Staying on Her Toes: Balancing Ballet and Big Goals
At ACE Tutoring, we enjoy getting to know the students behind the achievements and celebrating what makes each of them unique. In this Student Spotlight, Liz shares her passion for dance, the people who inspire her, and how she approaches academic challenges while balancing her interests and responsibilities outside the classroom.
Finding Balance beyond the Classroom
What are some of your passions outside of school?
Liz: I enjoy dance, especially ballet.
Setting Goals and Celebrating Achievements
Before the school year started, you shared a goal you wanted to reach this year. What was it?
Liz: My goal was to end the year with a 5.0 GPA while taking AP classes and dual enrollment courses.
What achievement are you most proud of?
Liz: I’m most proud of consistently scoring at least 90% on my schoolwork and maintaining a GPA of 4.0 or higher while managing my interests and responsibilities outside of school.
Inspiration and Encouragement
Who has inspired you the most, and what have you learned from them?
Liz: My brother has always been focused academically. He would spend late nights helping me with schoolwork whenever I needed him, and he’s been a good role model for me.
Building Confidence as a Student
What has your experience with learning and school been like this year?
Liz: ACE has encouraged me to be more patient with myself and my learning pace, even while I’m pushing myself to go above and beyond where I am currently. My tutors help me get ahead of lessons so I feel more confident and less stressed.
What has helped you feel more confident when facing challenging subjects or difficult concepts?
Liz: Coming to ACE has helped me reduce school stress, especially about falling behind or wasting time struggling with difficult concepts. I remind myself that I’m doing my best, and that is all I need to do.
Advice for Other Students
What would you tell students who struggle when things don’t go as planned?
Liz: Don’t be afraid to set high goals, even if you don’t reach them right away. It’s okay to feel uncomfortable when facing temporary obstacles.
A little reminder from Liz:
“Don’t be afraid to set high goals, even if you don’t reach them right away.”
Looking Ahead
Liz’s perspective is a wonderful reminder that pursuing ambitious goals also means learning to be patient with yourself along the way. We’re proud to be part of her academic journey and appreciate her sharing what she has learned with other students.
Liz, thank you for sharing your experiences and insights with us. We’re excited to see what you accomplish next!
