Cultivating Winners: MM7 Athletic Training & ACE Tutoring ACT/SAT Partnership
A successful athlete scores in the athletic arena. A successful student-athlete wins in life.
A true #student-athlete prioritizes education. Hence the order of those two words. Play it smart: acquire strong study skills, get help from education professionals (teachers, counselors, and #tutors), and put forth your best efforts on and off the athletic field.
Athletes Beware: Myths about Test Scores and College Admissions
Standardized Tests are Less and Less Important. The opposite is true. With the increase of applicants (yet little increase in number of admission staffs at most colleges), schools are using SAT and ACT scores to cut down the massive pool of hopeful applicants.
Test Optional? Be sure you understand this policy that some colleges offer. This may be a relief to students who suffer from severe test anxiety. Athletes applying to NESCAC (“Little Ivy” schools like Williams, Amherst, and Middlebury) and Patriot league schools do not have the luxury of declining to take the standardized exams. The athletic scholarship rules require the colleges to report the test scores.
An ambitious student-athlete needs to go for the goal, not shy away from challenges. Re-think terms such as “test optional” and other “easy outs”. Think, instead, of the students you are competing against for college admission. Certainly, those students have been preparing for the exams and intend to submit their high scores. To win, you need to at least show up and be prepared to give it your all.
At #ACE Tutoring, we feel privileged to work with the student-athletes of #MM7 Training Center on their #ACT and #SAT Prep. The filled room at 9 am on a Saturday morning is evidence of these athletes’ desire to train for their academic success. We commend them for devoting 4 precious hours on a Saturday morning to take their SAT diagnostic and we look forward to cultivating these gifted athletes into the best college material they can be!
